The first of the maize drilled on the 20th April is now poking through thanks to 12mm of rain overnight and more forecast later this week. On the flip side this has put a halt to drilling for a few days but we were ahead of schedule up to now.

Maize drilling has commenced and this year we have a second drill to ease the pressure. Soil temperatures are ideal and a settled forecast means we have managed to get off to a flying start. Following a very interesting and successful growers meeting where Simon Draper from the Maize Growers presented to the group several changes have subsequently been made in particular with DAP placement. So far we have managed to drill 21% of the area in 3 days. Seed bed conditions have been good, some people are rolling post drilling.
